-peeks into blogiverse carefully-

-Wipes finger along the edge of blog. Results in dusty finger.-

Oops. I think I neglected my blog just a twee bit. :\

I can't honestly say that I had a good reason to be lazy in my bloggy-life. But now I'm back! :D

So my life is finally starting to slow down a bit. HUZZAH! Now that I have free time on my hands, I'm finding myself spending all of it on Facebook and Les Mis. (Speaking of which, I'm finally on Book Two, Pg. 106, and Jean Valjean has finally appeared!)

A lightening-round recap of my life for the past month: we finished our one-act plays about two weekends ago, and they were awesome, although not too many people came to see them... :( ; I made $30 tutoring! ; I spent all that money, plus more, on prom! (Which was totally kick-butt awesome, too.) ; I helped out backstage with my little brother's middle school play (CATS! o.o A ridiculously high-level show for a middle school, but the director is enamored to it so much that he did it anyway... Not a good decision...) ; and my allergies kicked in.

And that about brings you up to speed on my life! Hopefully, I can swing back into the blogging groove and stay there.

Oh, speaking of grooves:

Getting up early: No
Running: No, but I helped garden! :D
Floss: But of course, good sir!

Busy, Busy, Busy Once More

So...

I finally thought that for once I had gotten rid of all my deadlines, things to do, long-term notices, etc. and could rest in peace.

That didn't last long at all. It left much, much to quickly! I don't have much to complain about, I know, but suddenly I found out I was going to prom in two weeks, got two new roles in a play that starts next weekend, got a job tutoring, and I need to get further ahead in my French class...

Whew. Just putting it all down somewhere helps a lot. At least now I can look back on that whenever I forget my list of things to do.

It'll be a fun, fun last two months of school, that's for sure! :D

Waking early: Non... (Something tells me this goal is gonna be dropped... :P)
Flossing: Oui!
Running: Oui!

Senior Buddy Auction!

Well, today was bundles of fun, and a perfect way to go back to school after Easter!!

Instead of going to school, we actually went to the gym for a fun, out-of-school day! Then again, any day out of school tends to be fun...

Anyways, we had our annual Senior Buddy auction! You basically auction off each of the seniors in the graduating class, and people bid on them, and the highest bidder gets that senior as his buddy to do anything he commands! Mwahaha! The teachers also put up extra credit points, cookies, steak dinners cooked by them, etc. All the money raised goes to homecoming next year! Woot!

So, naturally, I bought a senior for $16, and split him 50-50 with my friend, who'lll take him half the day, me the other half! I know him from drama and stuff, and he's a pretty neat guy. I get to dress him redonculously, he'll bring in boardgames to play during class, buy me lunch and slurpees, etc.

Then we had a bunch of class gainst class competitions. I tied the donut-eating comp. for my class with the seniors. -fist pump- And then we went bowling to raise money for a homeless shelter!

So all-in-all, a good day, and no homework for me!

Getting up early: No...
Running: Yup!
Flossing: Yup!

So... 'Bout Those Resolutions....

I got up at 9:30... I figured I'd let myself sleep in, seeing as I don't get another break from school for eons...

And I ran for the first time since the fall! :D -lifts glass of water- Here's to hoping this is the start of a trend!

Also, I'm going to start flossing religiously (hence, before I go to sleep every day). Hecks to the yeah!

So, for today:

Flossing: Check
Waking up early: No
Running: Check

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

I'm Baaaaaaack!

:D

Well... I guess that's all I have to say for today.

Tomorrow I'm starting a new resolution of sorts. I'm gonna start running!

...

I'm horribly bad at resolutions, so we'll see how that goes. I'm also gonna start getting up at 6 every day! :D I'll update you all to tell you how that's going in a couple days...

I guess all these new resolutions came from this awesome site called 43 Things. It lets you make a list of up to 43 things that you want to accomplsih in your life, short- or long-term! C'est awesome!

That's all for now. Short for a post after a long break, but I'm tired and I need to get up early tomorrow morning! ;)

Looks Like This is the Last Post for a While

So guess what guys?

I think I'm going to give up the internetz for Lent! o.o

I've wanted to do this for a couple years now, but I've never really thought I could do it, but now I figure I might as well try, no?

So this might be the last post for quite sometime... I might give myself a break every Sunday to drop a few lines! :P

Naturally, I need it for French class and e-mail, so I'll let myself check those, but that's all! If you really need to tell me something, drop some mail to paulkizzleboy@aim.com

I'll see you all later! Au revoir!

French Song of the Week #1

Starting today, I hope to find a French song that I like each week and post it on here every Sunday! My French teacher suggested it for "cultural enrichment", and I thought what better way to learn French culture than through music??

So for the first song, hopefully the start of a tradition, I offer on to all of you the song "Paris" by Camille!

I particularly like the tap dancer around 2:15! :P

Enjoy!

(Kudos go to Blusparrow, because I semi-borrowed her idea!)

Musing on the Subject of Life

Lately, I've been thinking quite a bit, about religion, morality, philosophy, and life in general.

In other words, I've been doing the same old thing! :D I love a good thinker.

Anyways, my recent "reason for life" philosophy isn't anything new, me thinks, but it took me a while to sort of centralize my thoughts around one word: caring.

Now, this is going to sound Barney-esque... but caring makes the world go 'round.

I've been thinking this through, and the only reason we feel emotions is because we care. We feel happy when someone we care about achieves a goal, or when something we care about gets lost, we feel sad.

And it goes beyond emotions. Lately, I see in my peers and myself a general attitude of "whatever". There's no impetus, no zeal for anything! Learning, fine arts, philosophy, and anything that requires effort, it seems, are just thrown to the side, and that just makes me sad. Hardly any of my classmates read, and they see it as a punishment instead of a way to learn and grow!

Maybe this is just me, but entertaining philosophical thoughts and just higher thinking once in a while is a good thing. It keeps your mind open to possibilities and lets you grow as a person. If you care about yourself and others, truly care, wouldn't you want to do everything possible to help them?

Would we still have poverty, war, and fierce, bitter resentment and arguments if everyone just cared for each other and wanted the best for them?

Again, not a revolutionary thought in the least, but as of now, I'm making a resolve to simply care more and not be so "whatever". I don't want to lose the ability to think, or the ability to care and love.

(... Man, that all sounds cheesy! :P)

Busy, Busy, Busy!

I haven't written a post in a looong time, it seems.

School, play, homework, eating, thinking, and reading have all kept me preoccupied these last few days. The weekend was fun, but it sure wasn't as restful as I had hoped it would be. But that's okay. I've been napping again! Maybe that's why I never have time for anything... I spend all my time hibernating!

Well, whatever the reason, I know that I must be busy because I haven't even started to read Les Miserables yet! Normally, when I get a new book, I go ballistic and read as much as possible.

Not this time...

Speaking of books, I have to write an in-class essay on Farenheit 451 tomorrow in English. I really love the novel, so much so that I even bought my own copy after reading it, but an essay doesn't sound fun at all...

But I digress. My life is busy, but I guess I wouldn't have it any other way. I just wish I had a day to take a breather and not do anything. Maybe this weekend...

Woot, Woot!

Guess WHAT?!?!?!

I got my own, unabridged copy of Les Mis today! -does very happy dance-

And I'm going to a party!!! -gets ready to dance-

And there's 8 inches of snow on the way!!!!! -does snow dance in hopes of a now day Monday-

And I got to sleep in today! -dances because he has energy-

And I feel like I want to get things done! -stops dancing to finish homework, clean room, and make card-

WOOT!

Meery Popp'ns!

I found this little series on Protagonize completely amusing! It's a fan-fiction of Mary Poppins!!! :D

Check it out here! You won't regret it!

It's Friday!

FINALLY!

I've been waiting all week for this day to come, and now that it's come, it's been an awesome day. I watched movies in two classes, had a test in another, a quiz in another, and no homework in any class except English! The only bad thing about it is that I have play practice 6 - 8, so no plans for me...

But I have Swedish Fish!
SCORE!

Tomorrow looks like it'll be a pretty regular day until the afternoon, and I get to go to a partay later! Woot woot!

In other words, let's hope this'll be a fun weekend! I hope you all have a great one, too!

Doodle!

Here's a doodle I drew on my right arm in some class today. ( I forget which one...)

I'm pretty happy with it, considering I don't know what it is (some monkey/bear cross?), it was inspired by a scribble, and I drew it with my left hand!!! Hooray for ambidextrousness!

Snow, Sleep, and Stocks

So... I'm really tired. It's only Tuesday and I feel as if I've been through a week of school... My weekend rest seems to have disappeared.

Thankfully, the weather reports say that there's a slight chance of a snow day... And I'm hoping for it, because I need it. (zzzz.... and I need to catch up on French.)

One thing we've been doing in school lately is studying the stock market, and seeing as we're in the lowest of the lowest dip possible right now, chances are stocks will go up soon. I'm thinking about scrounging up a few bucks to invest, if at all possible! Big dreams for a sophomore guy, but wouldn't it be great to actually have spending money?!?! :D

Anyways, beyond my fiscal dreams, and real dreams once I go to sleep, there's no much going on...

Bonne nuit!

P.S. I'm angry that ABC is already repeating Scrubs episodes! Gr! >:(

Mp3 Player Ambulance Needed!!!

My day has been ruined.

Totally, utterly ruined.

My mp3 player, a Creative Zen 8GB, just gave me the White Screen of Death. It turns on, plays music, works fine, EXCEPT THAT THE SCREEN IS COMPLETELY WHITE. I can't see anything!

I've tried everything, and my Zen is in the refrigerator now to see if one guy's solution of cooling it down makes it work temporarily. I've updated the firmware, pressed the reset button numerous times, tried the gazillion tricks there are on the Internet, and nothing.

Looks like I'm going to be stuck listening to Chicago (the last thing I listened to) for a while...

The worst thing is that many, many people are having problems with this mp3 player, which is really too bad because it is totally kick-butt when and if it works!

I can only hope Creative will give me my money back... Apparently, Apple will end up getting my money even though I dislike the monopoly they have on mp3 players... D:

Radieux!

That means dazzling in French!

My day wasn't too bad today, but not quite something I would call dazzling. Just a regular day at school, with a slightly lower homework load... I got chastised today for not keeping up with my online French course, too. XP

We had an interesting discussion in Religion class today, though. It was about if looking at a person's actions and judging that action is okay if judging a person's overall level of good or evil isn't okay. This may sound really boring and everything, but it was really quite intense... I want to start a debate club at my school now! :D

Oh well, that'll have to wait until another day... -yawn- I think it's high time for a nap...

Epically Awesome Failure!

EPIC FAIL!

I found this insanely amusing at 11:53 PM.

Use this gift wisely.

YAY SINGLES AWARENESS DAY!

Happy Belated Valentine's Day to everyone!

These past few days have gone by like this: WHOOSH! All week, I've been going to school, play, homework, eat, sleep, repeat.

Friday was my little brother's birthday, so I helped with his party. He's 12! =D I gave him one of my free Slurpee coupons for his birthday with a thoughtful message on the back.

Then I went to play practice, and then directly to my friend's sister's early birthday party(her birthday's actually on the 14th) that evening at Buffalo Wild Wings! It was an awesome time! Seeing as it was my first time there, I got to experience the awesomeness that their wings are, too.

This is the card I made for her:

I made her a pretty awesome card, me thinks. So, my Friday the Thirteenth was teh awesome!

I sleep, I wake. The next day.

It's V-DAY! Unlike most single people, I don't cringe at the thought of not having a Valentine. I don't know why... I've just never been into the whole teen romance thing. -starts to fake sob- After my heart was broken int he 8th grade... I've never been able to piece it back together... -ends fake tears-

:D But I've had a pretty good day. I just got to relax, walk around the mall a bit, and eat brownies. I got a French-English dictionary with my Barnes and Noble gift card!

It's puuuurty. Unfortunately, the other book I was planning to get (an unabridged copy of Les Miserables) was not there. They had one copy, and it was al banged up and the binding was coming undone. XP So I complained to the cashier, and he ordered a new one for me! :D

Well, I suppose that's all for now. Here's my last attempt at being romantic, and in Francais!

Happy Singles Awareness Day!

Au Revoir!

Non-stop Napping?

So guess what happened today?

I napped for two hours. Completely unintentionally!

And this isn't the first time this has happened the past couple days. I think I napped for two hours Monday, too, and a shorter one Sunday.

Am I suffering from exhaustion or what? Hopefully, this ends soon, because on most weeks, I have no time to nap! I guess I'm lucky I've had a couple easy days in regards to homework and play practice.

Speaking of which, I better finish my English before Lost starts...

Shakespeare in Spring?!?!

:D

I'm very excited today!

I just got back from play practice, and our director is seriously thinking about doing one of four Shakespeare plays next spring(Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, or McB).

This, combined with Ana's completely awesome post, have totally made my day!

:D

Early Coldplay = Depression?

I just got done listening to one of Coldplay's earlier albums, A Rush of Blood to the Head, (It was their second album, as Wikipedia so readily informed me) and now I'm feeling slightly depressed and melancholy.

So, now the question comes up to my mind: does Coldplay lead to minor, temporary depression?!?!

@.@

Certainly, some of the songs (The Scientist (which has a rockin' awesome video) and Warning Sign) have kinda depressing lyrics and melodies. And considering I listened to both of those, it might explain my mood.

I guess studying about the Great Depression while listening to those songs might also contribute a bit to the "depression" factor...

But right now, I kinda feel that the world is just not going in the right direction...

Where's the LOVE?!?!

Caloric Baked Goods, MORPing, and Mathematics

Well, yesterday was quite an awesome day for a particularly uneventful Saturday.

I had to get up bright and early after 7 AM to get up for church because I had to altar serve, and then my family went out to breakfast, and then I actually got some cleaning done in my room! Note I said some, not a lot. But still, it was better than nothing.

And then, my little brother, my mother, and I made pączki (pronounced pwnch-key (Like PWN with a chee added to it))!

In case you don't know what it is, it's leavened dough, wrapped around a small amount of plum jam, and then fried and glazed!

It tastes very much like a dougnut, and they're made for special occasions in Poland, where both of my parents come from, hence us making paczki.

Here in America, especially around my town, they're really popular around Fat Tuesday (the day before Lent starts). But, being the picky native that I am, I really don't like the ones the bakeries make around here... They're way too much like jelly donuts than pączki... But my mothers, on the other hand... Mmmm... -dies of ecstasy-

In other news...

I was invited to a Morp yesterday, but, alas, I couldn't go. Morping, according to my friends, is when you go around dressed all fancily (dresses, ties, suits, etc.) to places like the party store, movies, mall, and any other place where jeans/tees are the norm! Personall,y I think grocery shopping at Wal-Mart would be especially amusing!

Perhaps I'll go next time, and bring along a whole list of fun places to go! :D

In recent news...

I have a butt-load of homework to do. I guess that's what I get for putting it off since Thursday.

So here I go to finish that backpack full of geometry, English, French, history, and chemistry! Au revoir for now!

And I Did Get to See the Movie!!! Yeah!

Wootness!

I got to see Coraline on opening night! And it was worth every penny.

C'est un beau film!

It was one of the best movies I've seen in a while, but I may be a wee bit biased, seeing as I love Selick, stop-motion, and the novel it's based on...

But really, I highly recommend it.

Strangely, for a PG movie (a dying species, it seems) it was very older person based... Kinda dark for little kids...

And there was some sort of strange, creepy music in another language, which wasn't really creepy but sort of sadly happy... o.o In other words, it was awesome.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...

Here's one dude that will buy the DVD once it comes out! :D

HOLY CRAP I want to see this movie now.

As many of you possibly know, the move Coraline comes out today across America.

And I am completely, utterly ecstatic, for many, many reasons!

First: It's directed by Henry Selick, the director of The Nightmare Before Chrsitmas. If that doesn't clue you in that this will be an awesome movie...

Second: It's stop-motion animated, IN 3-D! o.o

Third: Just look at a few of the reviews in this flash clip.

Fourth: Just go on youtube and look up a trailer.

Fifth: It's stop-motion animation, IN 3-D!!!

As you can probably tell, I'm a wee bit excited today. Hopefully, I can convince my mother to drive out to the closest movie theater that shows 3-D. :D

Another Post From School...

Well, unlike Monday, today has been a pretty great day!

First of all, I have no homework as of now except for some Geometry! WOOOTNESS! It's such a relief after the past couple weeks of craziness in the area of homework.

Second, after my brother forced me to get up in the morning, I found out that I actually was completely rested! Normally, in teh morning, I resemble an angry zombie very closely...

And lastly, I just feel awesome today! No reason, except for the two above...

Now, once again, if the silly people sitting behind me would just be quiet, this study period would be perfect!! :D

In other news...

I just recently rediscovered an old series of mine in the Ficlets graveyard! I remember I really liked this series, especially considering that it was one of my first. You can check it out here! (Woot for self-plugging!)

That's all for now! Adios! I guess I'll tackle that geometry now.

Busy, Busy, Busy Once Again

Is it just me, or does it seem like this week is packed full of things?

I barely have any time for relaxation anymore... T'is sad. Last night, I procrastinated on my pile of homework by reading Fahrenheit 451 (Which I highly recommend, even though I still haven't finished) for a couple hours... Which meant that I had to do my two hours of homework until 11 PM... That was when I decided that starting a paper (due tomorrow) and studying for a history test (which was today) were less important then sleep.

And now, today, the cycle starts again! Except this time, you've got to throw Scrubs and play practice into the mix.

But, strangely enough, as tiring as it all is, I'm glad I'm a highschool student right now (especially after reading Elsha's post) If you compare our troubles with other people's, they don't seem too bad.

Well, I have to be off, doing homework, French, writing papers, etc. Hopefully, I can squeeze in watching Scrubs!

Sleeping, School, and Silly Teenage Girls

So here I am, at school, in the computer lab...

And I wish, more than anything else in the world, that I could just go back to sleep. It's 1 PM, and this entire day at school, for the past 5 hours, I've wanted nothing more than to get back in bed.

In other words, just a regular Monday.

To make matters worse, I've been listening to two annoying girls behind me gossiping for about 20 minutes now. Sigh...

Thankfully, I don't have play practice today, so I can go home and take a nap...

HALP! Could someone blow up my school building? Kthxbye.

Awards and Thoughtful Quotations

We interupt this program to bring you...

This spiffalicious garland I got from Ana! Thank you! I got mentioned by an awesome blogger and writer in her blog! How awesome is that?

And in other news...

My sickness is nearly gone! Huzzah! All that's left now is this dastardly runny nose... Hopefully, it'll go away soon, as in before tomorrow when I have to get up early for school once more... Please, Mr. Cold? 'Kay thx.

Well, that's about all I have to say for today. I'll leave off with a quote:

"Will I lose my dignity?
Will someone care?
Will I wake tomorrow
From this nightmare?"
- "Will I?"
Song from Rent

Hopefully, no one feels this way today. I don't know why, but this touched me today, that someone could feel lost and forgotten in the busy turmoil of the world. It's just sad that some people don't feel like as if they have their human dignity sometimes...

Just something to think about as the day goes on...

Hibernating!

Bleh. I hate being sick.

I think this cold might be the after-effect of sleep loss, travel, and unnaturally warm weather from my D.C. trip this past weekend. It's not particularly bad, but my nose is all stuffy, and I feel like I have weights in my butt, beckoning me to sit down and hibernate.

It looks like I'm not going to that retreat this weekend... There's no way I'm staying up, getting up early, and participating in energetic activites.

But, on the bright side, I get to study for a test Monday and actually do some reading for once!

Here's to hoping no one else is sick! Cheers!

O-Baminator!

Now I'm sure that my New Year's resolution isn't off to a great start. I just missed a whole week! And a busy week it's been, too. Maybe that's why I've felt too tired to keep writing in my blog.

Anyways, from Wednesday to Saturday, I didn't even have access to a computer because I was in Washington D.C.! It was quite the experience, being there the day after Obama became President. It wasn't hard to realize, what with all the Obama merchandise! I got myself a postcard of the First Family!

On to my reason for being there... About 400 people from my diocese left for D.C. Wednesday morning to go to the March for Life, the annual peaceful protest against abortion and anti-life laws. Every year, more than 250,000 people march on the anniversary of Roe VS. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. This year it was particularly special, seeing as we got to protest two days after Obama took office!

That's about all for now. -sniff- I think I might have caught a small cold from the trip, even though it was a wonderful 45 degrees in D.C.! Much better than 9 degrees...

Stupid snow...

Resolutions, Key Club, and Photographs

Well, here I am, 3 days into my New Year's resolution and I've already missed a day! :P Hopefully, this isn't a sign of the days to come!

Anyways, I guess I missed yesterday's post because of a busy day. Our school's Key Club, the first in our region, was chartered yesterday, and we had a small ceremony and ice cream social to commemorate it! ICE CREAM SOCIAL, PEOPLE! It doesn't get better than that.

In case you don't know what Key Club is, and I'd be surprised if you did, it's a community service organization for high school students that focuses on outreach and community involvement. I honestly don't see the point of it in a school where 100 hours of community service are already required, but hey! It looks good on college applications, I hear.

In other news...

There are only 3 days left until our diocese leaves for the annual March for Life in Washington DC against abortion in the US. Abortion is one of those things that I believe strongly against, not only because it's against my religion, but because I just think it's wrong to kill a small child in the womb. Just look at this amazing picture:

I was lucky enough to meet the man who took this inspiring photograph, Michael Clancy, when he came to our school for a short presentation. He was an amazing, down-to-earth guy, and he gave up everything to stand behind this photograph. Michael lost his job and can't find work because magazines and newspapers are scared to hire him. His pro-life stance and the sacrifices he made stand against abortion really inspired me in my own beliefs. Michael Clancy was just an amazing dude all around.

Well, that's all for now. Please pray for the success of our march against abortion! :D This is an orange oreo, signing off!

New Year, New Start

Well, here I am. I'm going to actually start bloggin as one of my new year's resolutions. It's a little late to start, I know, but I just thought of it! So hopefully, I'll be able to write more and actually get my blog on its feet. Count this as my first post!

2009 is here. It seems so strange how quickly this year went by... It may sound cliche, but I think that's how everyone feels when they look back at the past year. Or maybe it's just me... I hope not...

Anyways, on to a different topic! Seeing as this is essentially my first post, I'll write a quick bio on here! Here goes:

  • I love the color orange.
  • I love oreos.
  • I love writing, and a deceased website named Ficlets.
  • I love God, and my family, and a whole big list of things I"m not going to put here because that would take too long!
  • I'm a teenage guy in highschool.
  • I play tennis and do theater!
  • I'm occasionally witty, but msot of my ideas are just "out there". SOmeday, I'll find this place called "out there", get my ideas back, and make them better.
    Someday...
  • I guess I want to blog to explore myself, my life, and just try it out!

That's about all for now, and I hope I can finally keep to a New Year's Resolution! Here's to blogging, oreos, and any other random thing you wish to put here!

Cheers!
